Krix Cyclonix 11

The Krix Cyclonix 11 has been purpose-engineered for premium home cinemas where powerful, accurate bass performance must be achieved without sacrificing valuable floor space. While many subwoofers rely on large cube-shaped enclosures, the Cyclonix 11 adopts a slim, low-profile cabinet that integrates discreetly against side or rear walls, behind an acoustically transparent screen or within purpose-built cabinetry. This flexibility allows cinema designers to optimise low-frequency performance while preserving the clean architectural appearance expected in luxury home cinemas.

Developed specifically for dedicated cinema rooms, the Cyclonix 11 delivers the deep, controlled bass that gives movie soundtracks their scale, impact and emotional realism. From the subtle rumble of distant thunder to the explosive energy of cinematic action sequences, it reproduces low-frequency effects with authority while maintaining the precision required for music and dialogue integration. Rather than simply producing more bass, the Cyclonix 11 has been engineered to deliver bass that is fast, controlled and faithful to the original soundtrack.

At the heart of the Cyclonix 11 is a high-excursion 275 mm bass driver featuring a substantial 50 mm voice coil wound on a high-powered Kapton former and supported by a ventilated magnet assembly. This professional driver technology provides excellent thermal stability, allowing the subwoofer to maintain its dynamics and low distortion even during sustained high-output movie passages. A carefully tuned down-firing bass reflex system further extends low-frequency performance while proprietary Krix rubber isolation feet minimise the transfer of unwanted vibration into the supporting structure.

The shallow enclosure also makes the Cyclonix 11 an ideal supporting subwoofer for Krix Series MX modular systems. Positioned along side or rear walls, multiple Cyclonix 11 subwoofers can significantly improve bass uniformity throughout the listening area, reducing the effects of room modes and ensuring every seat experiences consistent low-frequency performance. It can equally serve as the primary subwoofer in a dedicated Series SX cinema, providing installers with exceptional flexibility when designing rooms of varying sizes and layouts.

Designed and manufactured in Australia, the Cyclonix 11 embodies more than fifty years of Krix engineering dedicated to reproducing movie soundtracks exactly as filmmakers intended. For home cinemas where architectural integration, installation flexibility and uncompromising low-frequency performance are equally important, the Cyclonix 11 delivers professional cinema bass in an elegant, low-profile enclosure.

Purpose-Engineered Cinema Bass

The Krix Cyclonix 11 is a passive subwoofer developed specifically for dedicated home cinema applications where powerful, controlled low-frequency performance must be achieved without introducing a deep or visually intrusive enclosure. Its low-profile cabinet allows the subwoofer to be positioned against a side or rear wall, integrated behind an acoustically transparent screen or incorporated discreetly into purpose-designed cinema cabinetry.

With an in-room frequency range extending from 30 Hz to 200 Hz, the Cyclonix 11 adds the weight, impact and physical energy required to reproduce movie soundtracks convincingly. It can operate as the primary subwoofer in a Series SX cinema system or as a supporting subwoofer within a larger Krix Series MX installation.

High-Performance 275 mm Bass Driver

Low frequencies are reproduced by a nominal 275 mm doped paper cone driver engineered for high-output cinema use. The driver incorporates a substantial 50 mm voice coil wound on a high-powered Kapton former, providing the thermal capacity and mechanical control required during demanding low-frequency effects.

A ventilated magnet assembly improves cooling around the voice coil, helping reduce thermal compression as playback levels increase. This allows the Cyclonix 11 to retain its dynamics and control during sustained bass passages rather than becoming compressed or indistinct.

Down-Firing Bass Reflex System

The Cyclonix 11 uses a bass reflex enclosure with a single down-firing vent tuned to increase useful low-frequency output from its compact cabinet. Positioning the vent beneath the enclosure also helps protect the port opening and maintains a clean appearance when the optional front grille is fitted.

The tuned enclosure works with the bass driver to deliver strong cinematic impact while maintaining controlled response across the subwoofer’s operating range. Proprietary Krix rubber feet provide the clearance required by the down-firing vent and improve mechanical isolation on both hard and soft floor surfaces.

Low-Profile Architectural Integration

At only 175 mm deep without the optional grille, the Cyclonix 11 can be integrated into locations that may not accommodate a conventional cube-shaped subwoofer. Its shallow proportions make it particularly useful along side and rear walls, where additional subwoofers can improve low-frequency distribution without reducing valuable floor space.

The enclosure may also be concealed behind an acoustically transparent projection screen or incorporated into custom cabinetry, subject to the required ventilation, structural support and acoustic clearances. An optional acoustically transparent black cloth grille provides a finished appearance when the subwoofer remains visible within the room.

Passive Design and System Processing

As a passive subwoofer, the Cyclonix 11 requires a separate power amplifier connected to the LFE output of an AV processor or receiver. Krix recommends amplifier power between 200 and 350 watts RMS, allowing the system designer to select amplification appropriate for the number of subwoofers, room size and required playback level.

For correct operation, Krix specifies a 30 Hz high-pass filter with a 24 dB-per-octave Butterworth response and a 350-watt limiter into 4 ohms. Suitable processing protects the driver from excessive low-frequency energy while allowing the subwoofer to achieve its intended output and dynamic performance.

Part of a Complete Krix Cinema System

The Cyclonix 11 takes its design cues from the subwoofer modules used in the Krix MX-5 system, allowing it to integrate naturally with Krix cinema loudspeakers and subwoofer systems. It can be used as a supporting subwoofer with an MX-5 installation or as the principal low-frequency system in a dedicated Series SX home cinema.

Multiple Cyclonix 11 subwoofers may be positioned around the room to improve low-frequency consistency across the seating area. Carefully planned placement and calibration can reduce the effect of room modes, improve bass uniformity and provide more listeners with the same controlled, powerful cinematic experience.
